Ashton is a British actress and the eldest of three children born to a Ugandan mother and an English father Paul Ashton. She attended the Anna Scher Theatre School and was a key member of the National Youth Theatre.
Zawe studied at the City and Islington College where she is still remembered as a star student. She achieved three top A grades in AS English, Media Studies and Performing Arts. She is a graduate of the Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre with a degree in acting.
Ashton attended the Anna Scher Theatre after school junior classes and later became a member of the Anna Scher YPs (Young Professionals). She started improvised acting at the age of six due to her confidence, social skills and creativity.
Her television work includes Holby City, EastEnders, The Bill, NCS: Manhunt, Casualty, The Crust and Misfits. In 2011, Ashton starred in the Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat playing the part of Vod.
