Accidentally discovering a passion for acting at the age of 17 when he decided to audition for acting school with his friend, Yanic Truesdale took a job as a busboy while studying at the National Theatre School of Canada.

After graduation, the talented actor was quickly in demand. He began his television acting career in "Lance et compte: Tous pour un" (1991), the TV-movie version of the popular, long-running Canadian series “He Shoots, He Scores” (aka "Lance et compte"), a series of Quebec téléromans revolving around a Quebec City ice hockey team. That same year, he appeared in the Canadian TV-movie "Prince Lazure" (1991).

Truesdale was next seen in a French series on the SRC channel titled “Majeur et vacciné” (1995), which earned him a Gémeaux nomination for Best Acting - Comedy Series or Special (Meilleure interprétation: Série ou spécial humoristique), which he shared with co-stars Christine Bellier, Patrice Dubois, Sylvie Moreau and Brigitte St-Aubin.

He was also nominated a Gemini Award (the Canadian equivilant of an Emmy) for his role as the only black child of white parents on the Canadian sitcom “Roommates,” a show which reflected his real life. Meanwhile, he hosted a talk show for teenagers called "Special Delivery" and did a six-year stint on "The Duvel Family."

In the rest of the 1990s, Truesdale appeared in the TV series "Héritiers Duval, Les" (1996), the Quebec comedy television series "Un gars, une fille" (1997; aka "a guy, a girl"), and in a Canadian-produced television series that aired on UPN in the United States from 1996 to 1999, "The Sentinel."

After acting on stage with a starring role as the maid in the long-running Canadian production of “The Bird Cage,” he decided to get more challenges by moving to New York, where he sharpen his acting skills at Lee Strasburg Theatre Institute.

The new millennium proved to be Truesdale's breakthrough year. He made his American television debut as Michel Gerard, an extremely style- and diet-conscious French man who worked as the concierge at the Independence Inn with Lorelai (played by Lauren Graham) and Sookie (played by Melissa McCarthy), on the drama/comedy series "Gilmore Girls."

Premiered on The WB on October 5, 2000, "Gilmore Girls" ended on May 15, 2007, with its seventh season aired on The CW Television Network. For his role, Truesdale was listed on Daily Variety's "10 Actors to Watch."

During his lengthy seven-year stint in "Gilmore Girls," Truesdale supported Charisma Carpenter in the romantic comedy made-for-television movie "See Jane Date" (2003), which was based on the novel by Melissa Senate.
