On 30 August he scored the 3-0 goal for Málaga against Atlético Madrid in the 89th minute.[3] It was a special marker on his debut, while it was also the first goal he scored in the Spanish La Liga. On 13 September 2009 he was in the starting XI for Málaga, as they lost the away-match against Deportivo. He was substituted for Nigerian international, Victor Obinna in the 84th minute.[4]
