Titus Welliver was born on March 12, 1961 in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the son of the famous landscape painter Neil Welliver. His mother is a fashion illustrator. He has three brothers, one was killed overseas. Growing up, he was raised in Philadelphia and New York City. Titus grew up surrounded by poets and painters and gives them credit for his creativity. He originally wanted to be a painter like his father, but decided to pursue acting. Titus moved to New York in 1980 to learn his craft. He enrolled in classes at New York's HB Acting Studios while attending New York University. To support himself, Titus did a variety of jobs including bartender and construction worker. His first paid acting job was in Navy SEALs with Charlie Sheen where he played "Redneck in Bar." This really got him started and soon he was in many movies including JFK and The Doors. Titus also did theater. He appeared in productions of Riff Raff, American Buffalo, Naked at the Coast, and Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts I and II. He has made many television guest spots. He has been on the X-Files, NYPD Blue, Touched by an Angel, and Beverly Hills: 90210. Titus appeared in the TV movies An American Story and Mind Prey. He also starred in the series Falcone, where he played "Santino "Sonny Boy" Napoli" and Brooklyn South, where he played "Officer Jack Lowery." Titus married actress Joanna Heimbold in May of 1998. They have a son named Eamonn Lorcan Charles who was born on May 20, 1999. He owns a home in Maine near his fathers and lives there with his family and his Dalmatian, Petey. Titus is into environmentalism and charity. He donates to AIDS research, to Project ALS and to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
