His West Indian origins gives him a unique personality. On 31 August 1994, when he played his first Division 1 match with Monaco against Nice, he was 17 years old.
His progress continued unabated and in 1996, he won the European Junior Cup, with David Trézéguet.. The following year, Henry participated in the under-20 World Cup in Malaysia and graduated to the senior ranks as a first selection when he came of age. The choice proved to be wise as Henry turned out to be the most prolific scorer for France in their dominant run through the World Cup of 1998.
In 1998, during the French World Cup, he marked 4 goals and was the strongest french player. Then, in Euro 2000 he scored 3 goals in 5 matches and dodged every defence he met. 1m88 and 83 kilos, Thierry Henry is above all, remarkable in his physical fitness, he is one of the fastest players in the world. He spent several months with Juventas in Turin, but he left to rejoin Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Viera at Arsenal in 1999; he plays there still. On 5 July 2003, Thierry married Nicole Merry, the British model he met whilst filming the Renault Clio campaign.
Henry has amazed football fanatics all over the world with his natural physical ability. His offensive execution has been called spectacular, and most effective of all is his uncanny speed with the ball at his feet. There is not a defender in the world that has proved capable of keeping up with him.
