Shaw, born in Memphis, Tennessee to Reginald and Belinda, with younger brother, Justin. She began studying ballet at the age of three and later received a scholarship to the Dance Theatre of Harlem under the direction of Arthur Mitchell.[3]

In 2000, she moved to Los Angeles, California to become a professional dancer and to concentrate on her acting career. Shaw supports several non-profit organizations, including Project Angel Food, which provides free daily meals to adults and children that are homebound or disabled by HIV/AIDS and other terminal illnesses in the Los Angeles area. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Shaw made her film debut in the crime thriller Dirty as the young, drug-addicted girlfriend of Cuba Gooding, Jr. She then landed guest appearances on Weeds, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Campus Ladies, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Shaw next appeared in Step Up 2 the Streets,[4] a Buena Vista Pictures' dance film produced by Adam Shankman released in February 2008.

Shaw first drew strong attention as dancer and assistant choreographer on Christina Aguilera’s Stripped world tour. Technically trained since the age of three, has given her the ability to dance beside some of today’s other top artists such as Beyoncé, Green Day, Kanye West, and Shania Twain. She most recently performed with Janet Jackson on her promotional tour for her latest CD. Shaw has also worked with directors such as David LaChapelle, Darius Khondji, and Francis Lawrence.[5] Shaw is represented by Insomnia Media Group.
