Tatum Beatrice O'Neal was born November 5th, 1963 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are actor Ryan O'Neal and ex-wife/actress Joanna Moore. At the age of 10 she made her acting debut in Paper Moon. The following year she became the youngest performer ever to win an oscar for her role as Addie Loggins. Next she went on to play Amanda Whurlitzer, in the baseball comedy The Bad News Bears. The same year she was in Nickelodeon, which also starred her father. She went on to do a remake of the horseracing drama International Velvet in 1978. At the start of the 1980's Tatum tried to do more mature parts as in her next films Little Darlings with Kristy McNichol, Circle of Two (in which she appeared topless) and Prisoners. Unfortunately those efforts were not well received by audiences or critics. Tatum's movie career was put on hold indefinitely soon after making Certain Fury in 1985. In 1986 she married tennis player John McEnroe and decided to concentrate on her family. Which soon expanded with the addition of two sons, Kevin John (b. 1986), and Sean Timothy (b. 1988). Tatum did finally return to acting in 1989's TV movie 15 and Getting Straight and had another child, Emily Katherine (b.1991). A Big screen return was soon to follow in the 1991 independent feature Little Noises. Tatum received great reviews for the TV movie Woman on the Run: The Lawrencia Bembenek Story. However, during the filming her marriage hit the skids and she separated from husband, John McEnroe. In 1996 Julian Schnabel directed her in Basquiat. Tatum's life took a turn when McEnroe won custody of their children after a prolonged custody battle. Soon after she reportedly went in to a rehab center for drug and alcohol abuse. Tatum has since picked the pieces of her life back up and most recently starred in 2002's The Scoundrel's Wife, and 2003's The Technical Writer. As well as guest starring in TV shows Sex and the City and 8 simple rules. In October 2004 she is adding Author to her resume with the release of her biography A Paper Life. Tatum seems to be a much happier, settled person and hopefully will continue making great films for years to come. Her most recent television roles are the FX hit Rescue Me as her great role as Maggie and starring as Blythe Hunter in the My Network TV show Wicked Wicked Games.
