Canadian-born and the youngest of three siblings, Tara graduated from the prestigious Shawnigan Lake School, after her rebellious behavior had her kicked out of another private school. Tara then went on to enroll in the Vancouver Film School, from which she graduated in 1996.
She started her career with small parts on television shows like The Outer Limits and Poltergeist: The Legacy. In 1998, she landed big-screen roles in The Inspectors and Don't Look Down, but she gained the most attention in the 1999 coming-of-age film New Waterford Girl.
Tara can currently be seen in the ongoing television series Corner Gas. When asked about future projects, Tara said she would like to engage in something a bit more physical.
"There is a part of me that would love to do an action movie," she said. "I know it doesn't revolve strictly around acting ability, but I would love to do an action film."
Upcoming television projects include More Sex & the Single Mom (2005) and Waking Up Wally: The Walter Gretzky Story (2005), in which Tara portrays Kim Gretzky, daughter of Walter and sister of famed NHL player Wayne Gretzky.
