Tucker was born in Seminole, Texas in 1958. She did much of her growing up in Arizona however, as well as Utah and Nevada. This was because her father persued many construction jobs. By the age of 5, Tucker was already riding horses. At the age of 6, she began taking saxaphone lessons, and then two years later, Tucker decided she wanted to sing. Even as a child, people were stunned by Tucker's voice. She even met Mel Tillis, who even invited young Tucker to perform with him on stage. In 1969, Tucker and her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Tucker performed regularly.
