Spike Feresten is best known as a writer for television programs such as Seinfeld, The Simpsons and Saturday Night Live.
Spike grew up in West Bridgewater, Maryland and later attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. After prematurely leaving college, he started a job as a receptionist for Saturday Night Live. This gave him a chance to gain an understanding of the television industry and also to write jokes, which he passed to Dennis Miller. Once his comedic talent was recognized he was moved into the SNL writing staff. Eventually this lead to a job with the Late Show With David Letterman, where he worked for five years, earning five Emmy nominations.
In 1995, Spike started to write for the Seinfeld series where he wrote for three seasons. During this time he earned three Emmy nominations, including one for his well-known "Soup Nazi" episode.
In addition, Spike has written for other television comedy shows such as Space Ghost Coast to Coast and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. More recently he and Jerry Seinfeld co-write the screenplay for The Bee Movie scheduled to be released by Dream Works Animation in fall 2007.
Most recently, FOX has announced that Spike will host a late night talk show on Saturday nights after MAD TV. The show, which will debut in Fall 2006, is billed as a fast-paced half-hour that combines traditional elements of the talk show format with bold and irreverent comedy sketches.
