Shawn is a rising musician from Canada who came to America less than a year ago and is already hitting the industry by storm, writing & producing songs for ABC & ABC Family's hit shows: Eli Stone, Kyle XY, Greek & the upcoming Samarai Girl. Most recently his song "Without You" premiered on MTV's #1 hit show The Hills. In Kyle XY, Shawn's song "She Could Be You" was the actual premise of the show and became a two-episode arc when the lead actress discovers the song on a vinyl and tries to unravel the past connected with it. Shawn recently opened for REO Speedwagon and the Gin Blossoms where his performance has gotten praise in various publications. He is slated to play with Slash, Lifehouse, The Answer and the Sick Puppies at the Gibson and Joss Stone for a VH1 benefit in the upcoming months.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Shawn started singing and picked up the piano, guitar, trombone and bass along the way. He also studied acting and performed as both an actor and a singer. Through his acting background, Shawn learned to sublimate his emotions into his music when he performs. Most of Shawn's songs reveal the complexities of heartbreak and relationships. Some of his major influences are: Elton John, Marvin Gaye, Coldplay, Ray Charles, John Mayer, Maroon 5 and The Beatles.
In the past couple months, many producers have sought out to work with Shawn including: multi-Grammy Award winning Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins (has a current hit album with Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, producer to Michael Jackson, Britney Spears & Destiny's Child), Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland) and Don Was (Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Rollin Stones, Garth Brooks, Brian Wilson, Roy Orbison, Jackson Browne, Carly Simon, George Michael, Bob Seger). He most recently finished working with producers: Dale Penner (the man responsible for "Nickelback"), Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crow's songwriter and producing partner, Beck, Liz Fair) and Virgin A&R Executive/producer Jeff Blue (Linkin Park, The Last Goodnight & Macy Gray).
Shawn is known to be a young philanthropist, he likes to devote time toward charity performances. He has donated 3700 copies of his album and song "Soldier" to an organization called Married to The Canadian Forcers, a group of military wives that send out care packages to every deployed soldier in service over the Christmas holidays. He also created the foundation "Feed the Need," an organization which has raised thousands of food items for food banks across British Columbia.
Shawn is managed by Nettwerk Management. His booking agent is S.L. Feldmans and Associates.
