Hatosy was born in Frederick, Maryland, the son of Carol, a loan officer, and Wayne Hatosy, a graphic designer and event planning director, who grew up in the Loch Haven neighborhood of Ijamsville, Maryland, attended New Market Middle School, and graduated from Linganore High School. His middle name, Wayne, is taken from his father. He also has an older sister. Hatosy was brought up Roman Catholic; his mother served on the Parish Council at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Ijamsville.[3]Shawn has a daughter from a previous relationship,(b. 1992) and is living in Iowa.
