They say the third time's the charm, a cliché that has worked out well for Sharon Case. After short stints on GENERAL HOSPITAL, AS THE WORLD TURNS and VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, Case was cast as the third Sharon Collins Newman, a role she's held since 1994.
A Detroit native, Case focused on ballet and jazz in her childhood. While still in grammar school, her family moved to Los Angeles, where the aspiring dancer was discovered at a local modeling event. She was offered a job in Japan at the age of 17 and spent five months working there before returning to L.A., where she took acting lessons. In 1989, she landed the recast role of Dawn Winthrop, Monica's lost daughter on GH, but was let go after a year. She then guest-starred on several prime-time series, including CHEERS; BEVERLY HILLS, 90210; PARKER LEWIS CAN'T LOSE and SILK STALKINGS. Not long after, she moved to New York and took the short-lived role of Debbie Simon on ATWT.
The move to New York was a new start for Case. She had married her high-school sweetheart at 18, but was divorced two years later. Moving across the country gave her a fresh outlook on her life, personally and career-wise. By the time Case was cast on Y&R, two other actresses, Monica Potter and Heidi Mark, had already played Sharon within the span of four months.
While Case thought she'd only be on Y&R for six months at most, she has been in Genoa City for over a decade, tackling such dramatic tales as the rape and death of Sharon's teenage daughter, Cassie, and has also enjoyed being part of a supercouple with Joshua Morrow's Nicholas. In 2006, her character ended a 10-year marriage to Nick, pairing Case with a new screen partner, Peter Bergman (Jack).
She's also continued to pursue outside projects, taking on roles in the soap star-studded movie Carpool Guy and the indie flick Wentworth in 2005.
Sharon Case has truly made the role of Sharon her own and has made her mark in the entertainment industry.
