In high school, she became well-known for her body; one of her yearbooks dedicated an entire section to discussing it.She was quite outgoing and in 2005 entered and won a wet T-shirt contest at The Corporation Arms, Ruthin, though at that time she was not considering modeling as a option.[citation needed] Instead, she enrolled in media studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Tuition and clothing expenditures led her into debt, however, which proved to be the catalyst for her modeling career.
On a whim, Gibson's best friend suggested the idea of taking pictures of her after a drinking session. Later, she sent some pictures, taken by her best friend Ashley Emerson, to modelling agencies, and was quickly snapped up.
In 2007, England's Channel Four asked to document her day-to-day activities as an aspiring model in an episode of the children educational documentary TV series My Crazy Media Life. This documentary being part of the National Curriculum coursework in Britain. The episode, which also featured model Peta Todd, aired on 8 June 2007, and made Gibson a familiar face in her native country.
Her increasing popularity led to some prominent interviews and photo spreads; by the end of 2007, she had been featured in the Daily Star, Maxim UK and Zoo. In early 2008 she appeared in Front Magazine. She has claimed that she will give up glamour modeling after she finishes college.
