Burrows was born in London, England to a politically active family; both of her parents are Socialists. At age 15 she was discovered by a modeling talent scout (she stands about 6 foot tall), and she began a successful modeling career in England and France. Two years later she chose to pursue an interest in acting. Politically active from a young age, Burrows joined an anti-racist group at eleven. She is the current vice-President of the National Civil Rights Movement in England. [2]
