Ryan was born on September 20, 1980 in Houston, Texas.
Since elementary school, Donowho has been a very successful and talented drummer. Wanting more than a simple life in the country, he eventually moved out of Texas and to Brooklyn, New York, where he still resides. Ryan played on streets and small clubs where he finally made a name himself as a talented drummer. He met alot of new people along the way, and would even play buckets and refrigerator parts to get an income.
At the moment, he is the drummer of rock group Pagoda. Pagoda, with sounds a little like an offbeat Nirvana, is out there at the moment trying to make a name for itself in the competitive Music industry. The band features lead singer and guitarist Michael Pitt and bassist Luca Amendolara; Jamie Kallend joined Pagoda for their 2006 album House of Worship which is their first under a label (Ecstatic Peace); cello player Indigo Ruth-Davis left the band in January 2006. Donowho also performs with Re-Percussionists, a rhythm group. He is also working on his solo album and producing a record for rapper Scavone.
Not only is he a skilled musician, he is also a talented actor. Since his movie debut in 2001's The Car Thief and the Hit Man, Donowho has added about a dozen indie films to his list of achievements. Donowho is most known in the film industry for his work in 2004's Imaginary Heroes with Emile Hirsch.
While these indie films provided Donowho with an opportunity to show others what a brilliant actor he really was, they did not bring him renowned fame. They did, however, bring him his own personal satisfaction.
For the OC's third season, the hit television show cast Ryan as Johnny Harper, the surfer who befriendes Marissa Cooper when she attends public school. His character was a constant love interest for Marissa for 9 episodes, and got in the way of her budding romance with Ben McKenzie's Ryan. Finally after a failed romance with Marissa's sister Kaitlin, he unfortunately perished to a bizzare cliff incident.
Recently, he has produced his first movie, The Pacific and Eddy which was released in 2006 and has many more indie films lined up.
Donowho currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. He constantly keeps in contact with his father, Wayne, and his older brother.
