Ruty is an American film and voice actor. His love of cinema and acting career began when he was just three years old. His mother, an Air Force Captain and middle school teacher, began entering him in pageants in his home state of Alabama. These early experiences enhanced his love for the stage and started him acting in local theater groups. Ruty's first taste of live theater would be Inherit the Wind, at the Martin Theater in Panama City, Florida. Playing the young Howard Blair, Ruty embedded himself within the ensemble and began being cast as the lead in many productions for years after in plays like Fiddler on the Roof, Shootout at Hole-in-the-Wall, Cinderella and Aesop's Fables.
With so many early successes, Ruty picked up an agent and spent his weekends and summers traveling with his father, an Air Force Lt. Colonel, while auditioning throughout the Southeast and in NYC, and booking roles in commercials and for TV. Throughout his childhood and into high school, Ruty spent his free time focused on sports, training in karate, basketball, football, and track & field. Even with such a heavy extracurricular schedule, he managed to score academic scholarships to many schools in the Southeast. After visiting many of them, he decided to enroll at Florida State; however, before graduating high school, tragedy struck on September 11,2001. Shortly after 9/11, Ruty decided it was his duty to do his part to defend America and he joined the United States Army as an Infantry Combat Medic. He served proudly throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was deployed with the 111th Aviation Battalion and assigned as the Senior Medic for the in-country Flight Surgeon.
Upon returning from his tour of duty, Ruty returned to Florida State to pursue his Master's Degree. Hoping to fill his weekends with something more than the usual college lifestyle, he began auditioning for the Florida State Film School. Ruty started booking many roles and soon filled nearly every weekend working in front of the camera. His passion was reignited and his efforts were rewarded as many of the films he was a part of toured the festival circuit. During this run, he made up his mind to return to his first love, and he began acting professionally.
In the fall of 2011, Ruty packed his bags and made his way across the country to Los Angeles. In his first eight months in Hollywood, Ruty booked spots with Pizza Hut and AT&T, as well as a principle role in the Warner Brother's film, Argo directed by Ben Affleck. Valuing his and his fellow serviceman's contributions to his country he made it a point to stay connected to military venues. He is a proud member of one of the newest groups in Hollywood, Veterans in Film and Television (VFT) and of one of the oldest and most revered, American Legion Post 43 Hollywood.
