Robin Arcuri nicknamed "RA" is an Italian American supermodel and actor. Whether you're talking about her body of work as an actress, supermodel, cover girl, activist, or, yes, her actual body, the best word to describe Robin Arcuri is "passion."
From the time she burst onto the Hollywood scene as a teen sensation from Huntington Beach, California, Robin Arcuri took on every turn in her career with steely-eyed zeal and passion. She has taken her 5'6" (34D-26-34) natural athletic frame from beauty pageants to the glossy pages of Playboy Magazine to fashion runways world wide, from the small and big screen to Capitol Hill.
Passion has been what has driven the success of Robin Arcuri. And passion is what shows in her work. Arcuri, was discovered when, at the age of 13, she placed runner-up in the Miss Teen California Pageant. Her natural beauty and fervent eyes caught the attention of modeling and talent agencies. Nearly overnight, Robin Arcuri became a sensation. Over her career, Robin has posed for such notables as Maybelline, Emanuel Ungaro, Teen, Vogue, Glamour, Orange Coast, Muscle & Fitness, Shape, Business Week, Cover Models, and Cosmopolitan.
Arcuri's passion next took her to fashion runways throughout the world. Told by many that, at 5'6", she was too short to make it in the rough and tumble world of fashion modeling only motivated Robin to search for such new success. Her natural beauty and athletic build trumped her diminutive frame and clients in the high fashion and fitness markets soon followed. Arcuri became a main stay in fashion print, runway, editorial, catalog, print, swim wear, and fitness apparel. Robin knew that her modeling career was a path to her true passion - - acting. While walking the runway she knew she was fighting a good cause. That cause was for the industry to stop promoting and using anorexic models. She led by example as she held a perfect BMI(Body Mass Index). This would later serve as a guide for teen model hopefuls to follow. Over the years, her interest in cultural diversity has motivated her to model overseas where she appeared on the runways in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Mexico. In Japan, while modeling for MAD (Models Against Drugs) and Cosmopolitan, she learned how to speak the Japanese language of Nihongo.
While in film school at CSUF she met Illusionist Shane Nia and began assisting him in performing at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles and The Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California. A small, but fun stage for the young model, she was smitten with performing. Later, through the contacts she had made in modeling, Robin got the attention of television executives and, in 1992, made her small screen debut in Miracle Beach as Miss Germany. While the role was not significant, the Arcuri passion took over and she began to pursue a career in acting with the same deliberation in which she had pursued her modeling career. To date, her television resume includes a guest appearance with Rick Dees on Into the Night as well as a cameo appearance in season three of HBO's hit series Entourage (Adios, Amigos). Arcuri's significant ability to morph her look made her a natural for TV commercials and she has appeared in ads for Mountain Dew, L'Oreal, Evian, Body Glove, Asssociates National Bank, Badger, and Budweiser. Television led to movies. In 2007, Arcuri landed a small role in Ripple Effect and a leading role in feature film Totem (2008).
Those who have followed Robin Arcuri's career are probably familiar with her shoots for Playboy Magazine. It is there, perhaps, that the passion of her Italian heritage was first shown to a broader audience. She set her own shoots in a manner to demonstrate her inner self. Her cover shoot for Voluptuous Vixens may well be the only time that the eyes of a Playboy model revealed more than her naked body.
Robin Arcuri once told me: "When I was 21, it was all about me." But as Arcuri matured in age, she did so as well in life. As an adult, she has decided to use her number one asset - her passion - to speak out on causes in which she believes. Most notably, Arcuri has become a recognized spokesperson for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, appearing on Capitol Hill for rallies with other activists and Members of Congress. She is a supporter of the American Cancer Society, Half The Sky, Ducks Unlimited, and Amnesty International. She has appeared publicly with Lauren Anderson, in support of PETA causes. Arcuri has on numerous occasions expressed that she feels she has a philanthropic duty to those less fortunate and that is exactly what drives her to success.
Many (like this author) consider Robin Arcuri the most beautiful Italian American on the silver screen today. Her future lies not only in that ethnic beauty, but the passion which she will continue to show in her life.
