Rhys new he wanted to do comedy from an early age, as he liked making people laugh at school. He served in the New Zealand army for 3 years from 1991 to 1994. He went to University in 1995 and become famous for a comedy sketch entitled Things Rhys can do. In 1996 he formed the comedy duo 'Rhysently Granted' with Grant Lobban. They went on to entertain the masses at University and done two international comedy festivals until they split in 2001. Shortly after he realised that solo stand-up was his forte. He is well known for his use of vocal sound effects and story telling on stage. Rhys starred in the BBC Radio 2 show Flight of the Conchords in 2005 and also starred in the TV series of the same name in 2007 as Murray Hewitt.
