Miguel Jontel Pimentel who performs under the mononym Miguel, is an American recording artist, songwriter and producer. Signed to Jive Records in 2007, Miguel released his debut album, All I Want Is You, in November 2010. Although it was underpromoted and performed poorly upon its release, the album became a sleeper hit and helped Miguel garner commercial standing. After Jive's dissolution in 2011, he moved to RCA Records and released his second album Kaleidoscope Dream in 2012 to critical acclaim.
After Jive was shut down and absorbed by RCA Records, Miguel was subsequently moved to RCA, where Pitts was named president of urban music, and received a new marketing team.
His second studio album, Kaleidoscope Dream, was released on October 2, 2012, to critical acclaim. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 71,000 copies in its first week. As of November 21, 2012, Kaleidoscope Dream has sold 180,900 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
