bio of Michael Rady is very limited because he is still relatively unknown. At least you are given a few morsels like his birthdate (August 20, 1981) and a couple of hobbies (gardening and surfing) according to imdb.com. In July 2006, Michael Rady is almost 25 years old.
In an interview below, he does reveal that he was from “Philly” and had to go back home, pack, get his passport, to get ready for the trip to Greece.
The Rebecca Murray interview is from this site: http://movies.about.com/od/sisterhoodofthetraveling/a/sistermr060105.htm
Michael Rady on Getting the Role of Kostas in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: "Newcomer Michael Rady scored a prime role as Alexis Bledel's Greek boyfriend in the film version of Ann Brashares' popular novel, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." Rady says playing Bledel's boyfriend and getting to shoot in Greece were pretty much dreams come true.
"They wanted to do everything on location, everything authentic Greek. I woke up one day and I was told to go home, go back to Philly - because I was living in New York. 'Go home to Philly. Get your underwear, your passport. There will be a limo in the driveway to take you to the airport. You’re going to get on a plane to Greece. You’ll be in Greece in 24 hours,'" recalls Rady.
Michael Rady on Picking up the Greek Accent: "We had four days. They flew a dialect coach in from London and we just sat there morning, noon and night, all day long working the accent. We’d go out to lunch and I had to use the accent. It was very intense, very intensive. Normally it takes like five months to work on. We were a little cramped for time – four days."
On Working with Alexis Bledel: "She was a doll. She’s so cute and sweet and dear and beautiful and quirky. She just kept me laughing the whole time."
Downtime in Greece: "There wasn’t much time. On location you’re just shoot, shoot, shoot. We had one day off and I think we both kind of crashed and passed out that day."
Michael Rady on What the Filmmakers Saw in Him That Made Him the Right Choice to Play a Greek Teen: "I don’t know. One person in my life in a passing conversation said, 'Oh, you look Greek.' So when I went to audition for this I was like, 'That person – they’re going to laugh if I get this.' (Laughing) I don’t know what it was they saw."
