Mauro German Serra Camoranesi (born October 4, 1976 in Tandil, Argentina) is an Argentine-Italian football (soccer) midfielder, who currently plays for Juventus of Serie A.
Football career
On the club level, Camoranesi played for Santos Laguna (1996-97) and Cruz Azul (1998-2000) in Mexico, as well as Banfield (1997-98) in his native Argentina. He moved to Italy in 2000, first to Hellas Verona (2000-2002), before transferring to Juventus in 2002. Camoranesi won with Juventus the 2003-04 and 2004-05 editions of Serie A, and the 2002 and 2003 Italian Super Cup.
International career
Although Argentine-born, Camoranesi had the possibility to play for Italy, given his Italian ancestors, so he decided to play for Azzurri starting from the friendly against Portugal (February 2 2003, Genoa) and later being part of the team at . When he accepted Trapattoni's offer to play for Italy instead of waiting to be called to play for Argentina he said: "I'm not a traitor, I still feel one hundred per cent Argentine and have done nothing to find myself in this situation. It's only a football matter, nothing else.". For Italy he played 19 matches with two goal.
