2006
Matt Bush began the 2006 season on the disabled list with a broken leg and returned to the DL after seeing action in 19 games for Fort Wayne where he hit .258. He would play in just two more games before hamstring injuries cost him the rest of the year. His final stats were a .268 average with three doubles, seven RBI's and eight runs scored in 21 games. He drew six walks and struck out 13 times.
Bush played in one game for the AZL Padres on a rehab and went 0-for-1 with three walks.
2005
Bush hit .221 with 13 doubles, three triples, two homers and 32 RBI's over 126 games with Fort Wayne in 2005. He walked 33 times while striking out 76 times and posted a .279 OBP. He also recorded 38 errors at shortsop.
2004
Bush began his season late due to a suspension from an altercation at a bar. He went down to Peoria where his bat and glove were less than stellar. He batted .181 in 21 games, driving in 10 runs. He also committed ten errors.
Matt Bush was taken in the first round of the 2004 MLB Amateur draft with the first pick overall. Bush is a 17 year old local product out of Mission Bay High School. In high school he played both pitcher and shortstop and the Padres plan to use him exclusively in the infield. He is seen as one of the best defensive players in the 2004 draft.
