Not only is Marta Cecchetto Italian, but she’s also (soon-to-be?) married to a World Cup-winning striker, namely Mr. Luca Toni. I think that might make her the WAG Queen, but I’ll have to check the rules and get back to you on that one.
Our girl has been a model pretty much forever, scoring her first gig at the ripe old age of 16 and never bothering to try anything else. If we were more plugged into the world of models, we’d apparently know that she’s a big cheese on the international scene, and is well-established both in print and on the runway, though I’ll be damned if I can find any of her print campaigns on the internets — clearly she’s been (mostly) avoiding those nude-y calendars of which other WAGs are so fond.
I was, however, able to find a recent — and apparently much-loved — Coyote Ugly-inspired liquor ad that ran on Italian TV last year, so you can see her in action. The resolution is sort of crummy, but she seems more cheery that sultry, a train that makes her ab ti unusual in the WAG pool. (And that, combined with the fact that she reportedly takes much joy in telling people she knew her Luca “when he was a loser” (way back in 1988) makes me think she might be sorta cool, a least as far as WAGs go.)
Cecchetto was born in Foligno where she spent her childhood, having interests in music, she played the piano for seven years, sports, horse riding and tennis above all, and dance.
At 14 she started her modeling career after taking part in the Italian edition of "The look of the year" where she met a talent-scout who gave her the opportunity to work in fashion despite the fact that she didn't win the contest.
She later moved to the United States and modeled for several brands such as Ungaro, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, MaxMara, Trussardi, Donna Karan, La Perla, Parah, Just Cavalli and Chiara Boni.
She also appeared on the cover of several magazines, such as Vogue, Gala, Max, Maxim, Donna Moderna, Anna and Marie Claire.
In Italy she became popular after appearing in an Aperol's advertisement in which she showed her dancing abilities but especially because of her relationship with Luca Toni.
She then took part in several other advertisements such as, H-Q Swiss Made, La coppa del nonno and Mercedes. In 2006 she was chosen, alongside Vanessa Hessler, Claudia Cedro and Francesca Lancini, to be one of the soubrettes of Festival di Sanremo.
In 2007 there was a rumor about Cecchetto replacing Alena Seredova to host a very famous TV-show about football, but she later explained that she's not interested to pursue a TV-host career in a programs about football because she isn't interested in that topic. From 2007, when Luca moved to Munich, Germany, she has worked in many German advertisements, such as Nivea's.In 2008 she started co-hosting, with other models and stylists, a TV program named Modeland on All Music for boys and girls that want to become models.
