Mark R. Gerson was born and raised in Palo Alto, CA. In high school, he appeared in several stage productions, and actually directed ‘Sure Thing’ by David Ives during his junior year. Mark then attended Stanford University, where he majored in Management Science and Engineering (achieving a 3.5 GPA), but continued to study drama.
After graduating, Mark moved to Los Angeles…but not to pursue acting. Rather, Mark was offered a job in the city at one of the top 5 management consulting firms in the world. While working 60-70 hour weeks — sometimes managing projects to advise the CEOs of some of the top corporations in the world — Mark decided to get back to his artistic roots, taking acting classes at the Ivana Chubbuck studio in his (minimal) spare time. Within months of starting classes at the studio, Mark was offered rolls in several independent films. Mark balanced management consulting and acting - working long hours in the corporate world – developing and/or delivering major presentations to senior management teams at Fortune 500 companies, then going to acting classes at night and on weekends, shooting projects and writing whenever he could find time. Opportunities continued to grow, so Mark left his full time corporate fast track consulting job.
