Maciej Zurawski's soccer career started with the Polish club Warta Poznan, where his father coached. After a few seasons, Poznan started to sink to lower divisions; fortunately, Lech Poznan, another Polish club, took an interest in Zurawski’s crafty skills and brought him on board. He continued to build momentum as a goal scorer and developed into a fan favorite at his new home.
In 1999, Wisla Krakow purchased Zurawski for 2,000,000 DEM (roughly US $1,260,000) and he proved to be a good investment. In six seasons with the team, Zurawski led Krakow to four Polish Championships and one League Cup, and he captured the top-scorer title three times.
In 2005, he transferred to the Scottish League and continued his torrid goal-scoring pace -- totaling 20 for his Celtic club. His Scottish fans dote on his goal-scoring wizardry so much that they tabbed him “Magic” Zurawksi. Lastly, in February 2006, Zurawski's talents were recognized once again when he was named the Player of the Month.
