Regarded as one of the best players in the history of his sport, Luis Figo is an Portuguese soccer player, playing in the positions of winger. Nicknamed by the Portuguese as "Golden Boy", known by his fast pace and dribbling accuracy, Figo is one of the most feared technicists of his time. He started his career in the youth system of Sporting Lisbon, showing great skills while he grew, and at the age of 17 he signed his first professional contract with the senior team of Sporting. After spending six years playing in there, the foreign recognition came, when Barcelona picked the 22 year old (at that time) player and signed it. On the 5 years that Figo played in the club, he became a fan-favorite, rescuing Barcelona from some embarrassing results and sometimes deciding the game by himself. When he was the captain of the team, the shock came: Figo traded Barcelona by the arch-rivals Real Madrid, being for one year the most expensive player in the world. Showing the same level of play that he showed in Sporting and Barcelona, he became a fan-favorite for Real fans too, spending 5 seasons there. When some may predicted that Figo was going to end his career on Real, problems with the then-manager Wanderley Luxemburgo got him out of the team, making him sign for Italian giants Inter Milan, where he, without surprises, maintained the same level of playing. After a year and a half on the Italian side, it has been confirmed that Figo will spend a year (starting July 2007) playing in the Saudi-Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
