Laura Trott is an English track cyclist who specialises in team pursuit and omnium disciplines. As of 2012, she is the reigning double European, World and Olympic champion, holding all three titles in both events. Trott is a double world and European champion in team pursuit, having won the 2011 UCI team pursuit and again in 2012. Trott is also an individual world and European champion, in the Omnium discipline, having won the Women's omnium at the 2012 World Championships.
She joined Team Ibis Cycles UCI Women's Team for the 2012 road season. She won in preparation for the Olympics the team pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in London in February 2012. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Trott won a gold medal for the team pursuit alongside Dani King and Joanna Rowsell. The team also set a new world record time of 3:14.051 in this event. Including pre-Olympic races and the Olympic final itself, in the six times they had ridden together they had broken the world record in every race. Trott also won gold in the Women's Omnium making her a double Olympic Champion in her first Olympic games, 2 days after winning gold in the team pursuit. Trott is currently dating fellow Olympian and triple gold medalist Jason Kenny. She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to cycling.
