Krysta Rodriguez is an American actress and singer most famous for her origination of Wednesday Addams in the Broadway musical The Addams Family. Rodriguez grew up in Orange County, California. She began taking dance lessons at the age of 13, after being involved with cheerleading in middle school. After traveling to New York and seeing eight Broadway shows, she realized performers had to sing and act as well as dance, so once she returned home Rodriguez began taking singing and acting lessons.
Rodriguez first appeared on Broadway in the short-lived musical, Good Vibrations. She was later featured in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line in 2007 as a replacement in the role of Bebe. She has played numerous chorus and understudy parts in the Broadway productions of Spring Awakening, In the Heights, and regional productions of The Boy Friend. In the 2010 film The Virginity Hit, she appears as "Krysta". Starting in March 2010, Rodriguez originated the role of Wednesday Addams in the Broadway musical The Addams Family at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, leaving the role on March 8, 2011. In 2009, she had played the role in the show's Chicago tryout. Rachel Potter replaced her in the role of Wednesday.
Other credits include the title role in Gidget the Musical (directed by Francis Ford Coppola) and an Encores! production of Bye Bye Birdie. Rodriguez also guest starred on Gossip Girl as "Jordan Steele". Rodriguez is also a frequent collaborator of Joe Iconis. In 2013, Rodriguez will be appearing as the character Ana in the NBC television show, Smash.
