Kristin D Andrea is an actress. Kristin D Andrea received her first press when she was less than one day old, gracing the cover of her local New Jersey newspaper as First Baby of the year. She spent her childhood amid the old oak forests of New Jersey's Sourland Mountains with her parents, Mark and Claire, sister Larissa, and brother, Mark. Growing up in a house heated by firewood and stocked by kitchen gardens, there was plenty of room to explore but, aside from public school, little exposure to the outside world.
Despite this upbringing – or, perhaps, because of it – Kristin sought out performance opportunities; her love of movement led to dance awards and scholarships, and she was eventually accepted to study and perform at the world-renowned Boston Ballet and Ballet Theatre of Boston. At 18, Kristin was dancing professionally with the California Ballet Company, in San Diego. While at California Ballet, she was discovered by the theater director husband of the principle ballerina, who cast her as Inez in a production of Jean Paul Sartre’s “No Exit.” The experience led to other roles, and soon led to UCSD, where she graduated cum laude after studying theater and literature.
Kristin’s path then brought her, at the last minute, to the new experimental MFA Acting Program at USC as the 10th and final candidate for the inaugural class. After meeting with and auditioning for program creator and director Andrew J. Robinson, she was accepted with a very generous scholarship. Always at the heart of Kristin’s work is the desire to create community and connection, to engage in a holistic approach to the relationship between living and art, and the ways in which that relationship allows us to explore our own humanity.
