In 1993, Kenya Moore participated in a number of beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Michigan USA and then Miss USA before eventually competing in world's prestigious Miss Universe, where she finished fourth. At the 1993 Miss Universe that held in Mexico, Moore was heavily booed, partly due to strained political relations between Mexico and the United States. Another reason was the fact that Miss Mexico 1993 failed to enter the top 10.

Being contestant at numerous beauty pageants has opened many doors for Moore. She was asked to guest star in a May 1994 episode of Emmy, BAFTA, and RTS-award winning popular sitcom that aired on NBC and starred Will Smith, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." In the following year, she made her first film appearance alongside Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett in Forest Whitaker-directed "Waiting to Exhale," the movie adaptation of the novel of the same name by Terry McMillan.

Moore spent the next years guest starring such sitcoms as "Homeboys in Outer Space," "Sparks," "Smart Guy," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "The Parent 'Hood," "The Steve Harvey Show," "Living Single," ''Damon,'' and NBC's "In the House." She was also cast in Penelope Spheeris' comedy film starring Marlon Wayans, David Spade and Matthew Lillard, "Senseless" (1998), and hosted "Nubian Goddess" in 1999.

Entering the new millennium, Moore co-starred as the lovely and supportive wife of Gary Dourdan's corporate tycoon character, in Rob Hardy's independent thriller film "Trois," one of the highest grossing African-American films of 2000 which also starred Gretchen Palmer. She also appeared in writers/directors Julia Montejo and Jesus Nebot's drama/thriller film, "No Turning Back" (2001), alongside Vernee Watson-Johnson. Meanwhile, TV viewers could catch her in an October 2001 episode of the short-lived sitcom "Men, Women & Dogs."

In 2003, Moore starred as Passion, an exotic dancer and the sister of Sticky Fingaz's auto-stealing character, in the straight-to-video released action/drama film "Hot Parts," in which she also served as associate producer. Next, she was seen acting alongside LL Cool J and Gabrielle Union in Gary Hardwick's romantic drama comedy movie "Deliver Us from Eva," which to some extent, is a modern, urban update of William Shakespeare's play ''The Taming of the Shrew.''

Afterwards, Moore played Kara in two episodes of UPN's NAACP Image Award and Emmy-nominated sitcom, "Girlfriends." She also appeared in the segment "Street Dreams" in the rapper video, "Nas: Video Anthology Vol. 1."

In 2005, Moore filmed a biopic about the famed Houston Astros Fastball Pitcher, "Resurrection: The J.R. Richard Story" (David Ramsey portrayed the title role). She also co-produced and starred in "Brothers in Arms," a Western film by writer/director Jean-Claude La Marre and stars David Carradine.

Moore then appeared in Harry Basil's volleyball comedy movie "Cloud 9" (2006), with Burt Reynolds, Rachel Hunter, D.L. Hughley and Paul Rodriguez. She recently added to her resume with a role in Chris Sivertson's drama/thriller film starring Lindsay Lohan, "I Know Who Killed Me" (2007), which also stars Julia Ormond, Neal McDonough, Brian Geraghty and Garcelle Beauvais.
