Born in Sydney in December 1967, Katrina Warren has always been surrounded by animals. Growing up in Sydney's northern suburbs with older brother Guy, Katrina's first pet was a tortoise called Pong.
Immediately after secondary school, Katrina enrolled in Sydney University, majoring in veterinary science. She completed the five year course over seven years - taking two years off to travel overseas. With her stunning looks, Katrina fell into TV advertising, filming several local commercials before being lured to Japan. Quite simply, her petite figure and dark features - a kind of a western version of Japanese women - had caught advertiser's eyes. Modelling and photographic assignments followed in Tokyo, Taiwan, London, America and Sydney which helped to pay for her continuing university course - before she graduated as Dr Warren in 1992 as a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Katrina soon created a veterinary house call service in Sydney's eastern suburbs offering clients the convenience of treating pets in their own homes.
Having had a taste of advertising and the media, Katrina yearned to combine this with her love of animals and snared a job as a presenter and resident vet with Network Ten's children's animal show Totally Wild in 1994. Her popularity quickly grew and she soon appeared regularly on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton, as well as writing a regular column for Dolly and Good Taste magazines. In December 1997, Katrina, made her debut on prime time television as a presenter with Dr Harry Cooper on the Seven Network's family animal program - Harry's Practice.
Katrina got the opportunity to show her glamorous side when she featured as FHM's covergirl in April 1999. She was subsequently voted among the World's Top Ten sexiest women by the magazine's readers, being described by the editor as "more like Liz Hurley than Liz Hurley".
