Karen Fairchild was born in Indiana and raised in Marietta, Georgia. Like the other members of LBT, Karen grew up singing in church. However it wasn't until she attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama that she started to get serious about becoming a singer. It was there that she first met Kimberly Roads and the two of them joined a singing group. She had friends in Nashville that convinced her to move there in 1994 to sing on demo tapes. She performed in a band that played at corporate conventions. She also worked as a booking agent, which is where she learned the music business. Karen married Jimi Westbrook on May 31, 2006.

Karen is the leader of the group in the live shows. She does most of the talking on stage and is often the one to introduce the rest of the group. She's a powerhouse vocalist who always blows the crowds away. Karen puts her time as a booking agent to use by being the business mind of LBT. She's the one to ask if you want to know what's going on with the group. Karen is a beautiful person inside and out. The warmth and kindness she shows to the fans is just one of the things that makes LBT so wonderful.
