Jodie Harsh has it all - a fierce look, refined taste and witty personality. The London icon in hot-pink lipstick is without a doubt the most striking DJ, television personality, party planner and fashion muse to hit the Capital this Millennium, and is undoubtedly the reining Queen supreme over international nightlife.
Circus, Harsh’s Friday club night, has become legendary, with former guest DJ’s including Ladyhawke, Kissy Sellout, Amy Winehouse and Mowgli. Jodie currated the aftershow party for the Peaches concert at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the Ether Festival and throws sporadic pool parties on the roof of Shoreditch House with her performance artist friend Jonny Woo.
Over the past few years Harsh has become established as a prominent guest DJ who has been found spinning records at Fashion Week parties, showbiz bashes and clubs around the UK, America and Europe. Recent DJ appearances include events for Swarovski Fashion Rocks, the Q awards, MTV, Diesel, Oliver People, Urban Junkies, Absolute, Sony, Roxy, Julian Macdonald, Basso and Brooke, Converse as well as supporting Robyn on the London leg of her world tour. Jodie’s dance sets have taken the DJ to New York, Milan, Russia and Ibiza, and she is now a resident DJ at Manumission, embarking on a full world tour with them this summer. Even Pete Tong has championed Harsh and commissioned a mini-mix for his In New Music We Trust show on Radio 1.
Harsh's unique look is a culmination of the world's hottest designers, and London's freshest new talent. Adorned with garments from Pugh to Prada, she is at fashion’s frontline and spotted at Fashion’s front rows across town. Jodie advocates emerging designers and was crowned the ultimate queen of style when she walked the runway in the Emma Bell show during London Fashion Week and Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief event, alongside Cilla Black and Cheryl Cole. She has also strutted down the catwalk for Agent Provocateur while her party partner Kate Moss cheered from the front row.
A close ally of celebrities in music, television, fashion and society, Jodie has become a celebrity and icon in her own right, with artists such as Mark Ronson, Mika, Lily Allen, Agyness Deyn, Pixie Geldoff, Jaime Winston, Kimberly Stewart, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Roisin Murphy and Will Young all attending her glitzy birthday party at Movida.
Photographed for fashion bibles Pop magazine by Mert and Marcus, French Playboy by Rankin and Sunday Times Style by Perou, she has become a regular commentator on primetime TV and radio. It really is hard to miss her fierce influence as THE daring media darling.
Recent television appearances include HITS TV, Big Brother's Little Brother, MTV News, Cube (weekly segment), Hells Kitchen, the iTunes Festival, presenting a segment for the Brit Awards, as well as numerous radio interviews including Radio 1, NME Radio and Kerrang. Jodie recently made a guest appearance in friend and pop sorceress Roisin Murphy's music video for Movie Star, playing the role of the singer’s mother.
Jodie's formal training took form in a degree in journalism at London College of Fashion, while published work includes an essay in The Hedonist's Guide to Life book, as well as contributing to an array of fashion magazines and a weekly column in the Metro newspaper. Harsh has found herself in the Out Magazine100 list of the world’s most influential gay people as well as the Independent’s Pink List, and has given a speech at the ICA as part of their annual fundraising gala.
Holly Shackleton of i-D magazine stated, “ Party girl, DJ club promoter and fashion muse – Jodie Harsh is London’s favorite platinum blonde. Armed with a fist full of MAC make-up, Jodie is behind Friday night’s mind-blowing Circus parties and with her fluttering eyelashes and perfect pout Harsh DJs to make you dance! Glitter and high-heels at the ready”.
What’s next for Harsh? She has begun remixing for a multitude of musical artists and has recently been working closely with acclaimed producer William Orbit. She has also recorded a track for Larry Tee’s new album, titled Agyness Deyn. It’s a witty look into the life of a supermodel – something Jodie knows all about.
There is no doubt that Harsh's wit, humour and appearance enthrals anyone who views her, and has arguably lead her to become London's most successful gender challenging personality of recent times. Jodie Harsh has become the Real Queen of England!
