Fresh from his explosive and much talked about performance on HBO's upcoming Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam set to air this fall, Jay Phillips is catching fire this year with performances on The Late Late Show, Jimmy Kimmell Live, Laffapalooza, Weekends at the DL and Showtime s' Big Black Comedy Show and landing a leading role opposite Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson and Andre 3000 in the upcoming New Line feature SEMI PRO. Jay will play one of the starters on the basketball team with Will, Woody and Andre. Kent Alterman is directing.
Jay is also catching the industry's attention in his recurring role on the Fox Network / Fuel TV series The Daily Habit, through his hysterical sketch work and in his dramatic role as "Jamani Phipps" on The Shield.
Straight out of our nation's capitol, Jay got his break on radio as the co-host of Baltimore's successful WXYZ morning show and was soon voted Baltimore Magazines' Comedian of the Year. Jay was introduced to the industry at Laffapalooza and at the HBO Comedy Festival after becoming one of the top draws in the urban and college markets.
