James Buckley is an English actor and musician, best known for his roles as Jay Cartwright in the British comedy The Inbetweeners. James was born in Croydon, South London in 1987. At the age of 2 he moved to Dagenham, East London. He attended Beam Primary School. It was here whilst taking part in school plays that James found out how much he enjoyed performing and started going to a stage school at the weekends from the age of 7. At 11 James began his first professional jobs in the West End shows Whistle Down the Wind and then Les Miserables the following year.

As well as The Inbetweeners, The Inbetweeners Movie and Rock & Chips, Buckley's other TV credits include an episode of Skins (in Season 1, Episode 7 "Michelle") as a boyfriend of the character Cassie, and episodes of The Bill, Holby City and Teachers. He also played the character of Fred in Off the Hook. For Red Nose Day 2011 Buckley and his fellow cast members of Inbetweeners went on a rude road trip and visited the rudest street names in the United Kingdom in just 50 hours. In April 2011, Buckley received a BAFTA nomination for his role in The Inbetweeners.
