Isabelle Fuhrman was born in Washington, DC. She made her acting start on the Cartoon Network as a guest, and was soon appearing in commercials for companies such as Pizza Hut and K-Mart. She appeared in a stage production of The Nutcracker before landing a role in the pilot of the television series Justice in 2006. Her next television credit came two years later, when she played a ghost in an episode of the fantasy drama Ghost Whisperer. She made her feature film debut in Hounddog (2007), a musical drama in which she played Grasshopper, a friend of Dakota Fanning's character. Furhman says Fanning was like a big sister on the set, because they talked about "a lot of girly things, what pets we had, and everything like that." Fuhrman attended the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 for the film's premiere. In addition she was a guest in skits for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, appearing in four episodes from 2006 to 2009.
Fuhrman plays the lead role of Esther in Orphan (2009), and her voice is featured in the TV movie Children of the Corn (2009), co-written by Stephen King. She also played Hatchling Shelly in Around the World in 50 Years 3D (2009).
When she isn't acting, Fuhrman loves playing with her dog Lilly and her hamster Lola. She enjoys spending time with her older sister Madeline, as well as playing guitar and singing.
