A striking New Jersey native, Heather McComb got her acting career start at age 2 when she appeared in a TV commercial for Publisher’s Clearing House. Other advertisements as well as occasional TV roles followed and in 1989, the pre-teen girl made a favorable movie debut as the title character in the Francis Ford Coppola helmed segment Life With Zoe of the collection motion picture New York Stories. Before long, McComb and her family moved to California. There, she had her first series regular role as Scout, one of the girls who hangs with “The Outsiders” in that soon-cancelled 1990 Fox drama. Her sister Jennifer was also featured on the series.

McComb next appeared in episodes of “thirtysomething” (1990), “Midnight Caller,” “The Wonder Years” and “Who’s the Boss?” (all 1991), and in 1991’s film Kickboxer 2: The Road Back, she was featured alongside Sasha Mitchell and Peter Boyle. But, it was her next film role, as John Ritter and Pam Dawber’s daughter, Diane Knable, in the Peter Hyams-directed Stay Tuned (1992) that won the young actress notice. She was nominated for the 1993 Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress Co-starring in a Motion Picture for her role in the movie.

The following year saw McComb play the role of Michelle in the comedy/family film Beethoven’s 2nd, but she did not make any movies until 1996’s God’s Lonely Man, playing a heroin-addicted hooker named Christiane Birsh. The same year, she also played the role of Jubilee in the made-for-television film Generation X. In between her film roles, the girl guest stared in such television series as “Chicago Hope” and “The X Files” (both 1995), and continued with this same capacity until 1997, when she was hired to portray series regular Frances Malone, the disobedient daughter of the FBI chief, in the NBC series “Profiler.”

After leaving the show, McComb joined the cast of the Fox drama “Party of Five” during 1998-1999 season in the recurring role of Maggie, the college roommate of Julia Salinger (played by Neve Campbell). Returning to film, she costarred with Steve Zahn and Josh Hamilton in the festival screened Freak Talks About Sex (1999), acted opposite

Martin Landau in the drama The Joyriders (1999), costarred in the comedy 2 Little, 2 Late (1999) and had a feature role in the Susan Sarandon-Natalie Portman comedy vehicle Anywhere But Here (1999).

Next up for McComb was roles in such movies as If These Walls Could Talk 2 (2000, TV), Artie (2000), Nice Guys Finish Last (2001), Devious Beings (2002), All the Real Girls (2003), Dependency (2005) and Steel City (2006). She also could be seen as guest star in series like “NYPD Blue” (2001), “CSI: Miami” (2002), “The Handler” (2003), “Crossing Jordan” (2005), “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2005), “CSI: NY” (2005), “The Inside” (2005), “Without a Trace” (2006), and more recently in “Shark” (2007).

30-year-old McComb will play a role in Ocean of Pearls, a drama film helmed by Sarab Neelam. Starring artists like Brenda Strong and Navi Rawat, the movie is in post-production and will be released this year.
