Beauty pageant winner of the 1992’s Miss Rhode Island Teen and the 1993’s Miss Rhode Island Teen All-American Gina Tognoni landed her first on-air job as well got her first brush toward fame in 1995 when she won the part of Kelly Cramer Buchanan in the ABC long-running soap “One Life to Live.“ She left the show in 2001 to pursue a film career.
A year after the departure, Tognoni made her feature film debut playing bit part Stephaine in the Ken Del Vecchio-directed drama Pride & Loyalty (2002), which starred Seamus McNally and Rebecca Budig. However, she soon returned to television to star with Carly Pope, Brian Austin Green and Sara Rue in the made-for-television film This Time Around (2003). The comedy-romance film was helmed by Douglas Barr and co-written by Chad Hodge and Nathan Nipper.
Tognoni’s found a more fruitful work on television than on the wide screen. Still in 2003, she appeared as officer Claire in another television film Phenomenon II, starring Jill Clayburgh and Peter Coyote, and guest starred in an episode of “Fastlane,” playing Gabrielle.
Returning to her TV serial roots, Tognoni joined the cast of the 1952’s series “The Guiding Light” in the following year. She was cast as Dinah Marler and continues to play the role until the recent time. While working on the show, Tognoni made guest appearance as officer Kristen Vaill on the popular crime-themed drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2005) and starred as Barbara in the short Art (2005) for director David Lipson.
