Douglas Seann Robb (born January 2, 1975, in Agoura Hills, California), commonly referred to simply as Doug Robb, is an American musician and lead singer of rock band Hoobastank. His father is of Scottish ancestry and his mother is of Japanese ancestry. He is a graduate of Agoura High School.
Robb began playing Bass guitar at the age of 13, encountering fellow Hoobastank member Dan Estrin later in his teenage years at a high school Battle of the Bands competition in Agoura Hills where his band covered an Alice In Chains song. He has co-written all of the songs on two of the band's three major commercial releases, the self-titled album Hoobastank, The Reason, and Every Man For Himself, including the band's singles.
"It's more positive. It's not all positive, but... none of us were beaten by our parents, fortunately, and we don't have too many gripes. So I'm not complaining too much in our songs. It's mostly more of everyday-type stuff, life...you know, the questions that you and me ask in everyday life. I think that I was fortunate enough to have a strong family and live in a good neighborhood, a family-oriented neighborhood, so I don't have to sing about how rough it was... I don't think we're doing something that hasn't been done before. But I think it's not very trendy. I think it's just rock music with good songs and lyrics, lyrics that people can relate to, grab onto; it's just stuff that I've been through just being a normal guy."
In this same interview, he listed some of his influences as Faith No More, Van Halen, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
