Devon Werkheiser is ready to rise to the top and capture some hearts along the way. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, this southern heartthrob grew up with his father, a commercial real estate executive; his stay-at-home mother; and older sister, Vanessa. His parents knew Devon had a gift at the age of six when he began doing impressions of Jim Carrey from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). All righty, then!
His parents enrolled him in acting classes at Atlanta's community children's theater at the Talent Factory, where Devon excelled in the lead roles in such plays as "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "Halloween at Boo Castle." After four years at the top of the Theater Factory, Devon appeared alongside Charles Barkley in a commercial for the NBA.
At the age of 10, Devon appeared in his first blockbuster, We Were Soldiers (2002), as Mel Gibson's son. After working with one of Hollywood's most famous actor-directors, Devon and his mother packed their things and headed for Hollywood to score more roles--and he did. Before long, he booked a role with John Larroquette and Lesley Ann Warren in the independent film Recipe for Disaster (2003) (TV). Although he had already accomplished so much, Devon was in for the real clincher when he scored the lead role in Nickelodeon's "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" (2004).
When Devon isn't acting or being a straight-A student, he enjoys playing hockey, singing and dancing (anything but country), playing the guitar, and hanging out with his friends and family.Devon Werkheiser, 17, is well known for his starring role as Ned Bigby in Nickelodeon's hit TV series "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" where he navigated the hurdle-filled halls of James K. Polk Middle School for 3 seasons. In October 2007, Devon accepted the Kids Choice Award in Germany where Ned's was voted favorite TV series. The show continues to air worldwide attracting an international audience.
Devon started acting at an early age in his hometown outside of Atlanta. At age 10, he landed the part of Mel Gibson's son in the Georgia-filmed feature "We Were Soldiers." He then headed for Hollywood landing a lead role in the independent film "Recipe for Disaster " before being cast as Ned. In 2007, Devon starred in Nickelodeon's first made-for-TV movie, "Shredderman Rules," which included his original song Superhero on the DVD release. He also voiced the role of Casper in Cartoon Network's animated film "Casper's Scare School" and starred in the original Lifetime movie "Christmas in Paradise." In September 2008, Devon filmed the independent teen movie "The Prankster," in Marin County, due for release on April 1, 2009. He was cast as the romantic lead with Scout Taylor-Compton in the family comedy "Love at First Hiccup" which filmed around the LA area in October 2008, also due for release in 2009.
In addition to TV and film, Devon is working on his debut album for Universal Music Group. Besides playing guitar and singing, Devon is co-writing all original songs for the album, expected to be released in early 2009.
