Denise Rich Grammy-nominated songwriter Denise Rich has created an expansive body of work that embraces several musical genres and transcends cultural divides. Her songs span across generations and have been recorded by world-class artists from Mandy Moore to Aretha Franklin. Denise Rich recently announced the launch of NYC-based independent record label 785 Records, which aims to develop new artists and produce music of the highest quality across several genres. The label was launched in conjunction with the release of “Come Together Now”, a project devised and written by Denise, Hollywood actress Sharon Stone and producers/songwriters Damon Sharpe and Mark Feist. “Come Together Now” benefits the victims of Hurricane Katrina and is the first major all-star charity collaboration since “We Are the World”.

The list of respected artists who have recorded Denise Rich’s songs include: R&B;icons Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige (their duo performance of Denise’s “Don’t Waste Your Time” earned a Grammy nomination), Latin pop sensation Marc Anthony, international superstar Celine Dion, legendary headliners Johnny Mathis and Diana Ross, art song interpreters like Duncan Sheik, and dance divas from Donna Summer to Amber. Her most recent project “Come Together Now” boasted such stellar names as John Legend, Joss Stone, Gavin DeGraw, The Game, Wyclef Jean and Jesse McCartney, to name a few.

Recently, Luis Fonsi had a number one hit with Denise’s song “Abrazar La Vida” for which she will receive a coveted BMI Award. Denise’s songs resonate with the public in many different markets and reach across cultural divides - she writes in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Songs like “Quedate,” by Lara Fabian appeared on Latin radio charts for more than 40 weeks.

Her song “I Have Loved You” appeared on Jessica Simpson’s multi-platinum album In this Skin, “Candy” provided Mandy Moore with a Top Ten hit, and “Livin’ For Love” peaked at the top of the dance charts for Natalie Cole. “Aim Your Arrow High” helped earn a Grammy nomination (Contemporary Soul/Gospel) for the Tremaine Hawkins album To a Higher Place.

In her career as a songwriter, Denise has reached many milestones. Her songs are in soundtracks for films such as Meteor Man (1993), Kiss Me Guido (1997), The Hurricane (1999), Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar (1995) and Runaway Bride (1999) .
Billy Porter’s rendition of Denise’s “Love Is On The Way”, written for The First Wives Club (1996), inspired Celine Dion to record her triple-platinum version of the song. Patti LaBelle laid down a sizzling performance of “The Voice Inside My Heart” for the John Q (2002) soundtrack. The film Chicago (2003) features “Love Is A Crime” co-written by Denise, Greg Lawson, and Damon Sharpe, performed by dance-pop sensation Anastacia.

Denise has contributed her talent as well as her earnings to a number of worthy causes. The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis chose her song “All I Wanna Be Is Understood” as its anthem and the Save The Children Foundation similarly embraced “Save The Children” which Denise wrote with Joe Raposo. Denise also wrote “Love Will Set You Free”, recorded by R&B;diva Kelly Price for The Hurricane, raising over $200,000 for the T.J. Martell Foundation and the G&P;Foundation for Cancer Research.

Denise created Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research in 1998 in memory of her daughter Gabrielle who passed away from AML leukemia. Since its inception the Foundation has awarded twenty-nine grants totaling over six million dollars to promising young researchers in the fields of leukemia and blood-related cancers at many of this country’s leading institutions.

Denise was recently appointed to the board of the Clive Davis Recorded Music Program at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She also serves on the boards of LIFEbeat (The Music Industry Fights AIDS), The Interfaith Center of New York, and The International Committee of the Guggenheim Museum. She has also raised and donated money for AmFar, MusicCares, The American Cancer Society, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, Citymeals-On-Wheels, The Elton John Aids Foundation, Nile Rogers’ We are Family Foundation, and other such charities. Firmly committed to keeping the music industry strong, Denise is a member of the New York host committee for the Grammy Awards.
