The younger sister of film star Michelle Pfeiffer, Dedee Pfeiffer got her start in the cinematic industry by playing a hooker in the John Landis-directed Into the Night (1985), also featuring Michelle. She got the small part while visiting her older sister on the film’s production. Before, she appeared on episodes of television shows “Simon & Simon” and “Code Name: Foxfire” (both 1985). The same year, she also made her television film debut with a supporting role opposite Lee Remick, Bruce Dern and Jason Patric in CBS’s Toughlove, a well-received fact-based drama about parents dealing with disobedient teenagers.
Dedee went on to undertake bits and supporting roles in numerous films, mostly unmemorable. It was not until 1991, however, that the actress had her first taste of box office hit when she won a small role in director Garry Marshal’s big hit Frankie & Johnny. There, she portrayed the cousin of the title role Frankie, which played by her sister Michelle. Two years later, she was cast opposite Michael Douglas in Joel Schumacher’s Falling Down. On the small screen, she stayed busy by having supporting roles in television films and guest starred in episodes of “Midnight Caller” (1989), “Dream On” (1990), “Murder, She Wrote” (1993), “Seinfeld” (1994) and “Wings” (1994).
From 1995 to 1997, Dedee starred as Rachel Blanders, the daughter of fortysomething actress Cybill Sheridan (Cybill Shepherd) on the hit CBS television sitcom “Cybill” (1995-1998). The role brought Dedee popularity. She earned additional fame as Sheri Winston on the comedy series “For Your Love” (1998), opposite Holly Robinson Peete. Also in 1998, she starred with Miles O’Keeffe, Christopher Atkins and Patrick Cherry in the failed feature Shoot.
Next, Dedee found herself acting in such films as The Sky Is Falling (2000), Radical Jack (2000), Meat Loaf: To Hell and Back (2000, TV), Neurotic Tendencies (2001, TV), Titletown (2003, TV) and A Killer Within (2004), as well as in episodes of such popular TV shows as “Friends” (2002) and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2004). After teaming up with Jason Connery in the horror film Hoboken Hollow (2005), she returned to series TV with recurring roles on “Wanted” (2005), as Lucinda Rose, and “The Dead Zone” (2005-2006), as Linda Finney.
More recently, Dedee appeared as Grace Thomason in an episode of “CSI: NY” (2006). She is set to star in the upcoming television film Vivid Dreams (2006), a thriller helmed by Paul Schneider.
