Deutscher was born in Bozeman, Montana. At a young age she moved with her family to the Netherlands (the birthplace of her mother) and then to Australia. Her family eventually left Australia and returned to the United States to live in Olympia, Washington, where Daniella's dreams of playing basketball and becoming an actress became a reality.
When she was nine, her older brother, Johan, taught her the fundamentals of the hoop game. When she was old enough to play on her school basketball team, she quickly became a star player. Deutscher received many awards in the sport, however an injury curtailed her career and she decided to pursue her other dream -- acting. But before getting into acting, she landed some modeling jobs in Japan which helped her prepare financially for the big move to Hollywood.
Deutscher studied theater and performed in several productions including "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Crucible" and "Our Town." She has also appeared on television in the daytime drama "The Bold and the Beautiful."
Deutscher portrayed Julie Connor on the Saturday morning T-NBC TV series, Hang Time, in which her character was the only girl on a boys basketball team. Deutscher and her castmate Megan Parlen were the only two actors who appeared in every episode of the series.
Deutscher currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, former Hang Time co-star Jay Hernandez. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback-riding, racquetball and basketball.
