Coleen Mary Rooney was born to Tony McLoughlin, who was a bricklayer and ran a boxing club, and his wife Colette, who was a nursery nurse. She is one of four children. Coleen is the oldest, followed by her brothers Joe and Anthony and then her adopted sister Rosie, who has been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. She met Wayne Rooney when she was 12 and when they lived in the same Liverpool suburb of Croxteth. They supposedly began a relationship at the age of 16, when they had left secondary school.
Wayne's mother, Jeanette, worked as a part-time cleaner at St John Bosco, the Catholic school Coleen attended.
Wayne took Coleen to the cinema to see Austin Powers 2 on their first date.
Coleen Rooney left school with 11 GCSEs, including an A* for Performing Arts. She has long harboured dreams of becoming an actress, having starred in high school productions of Bugsy Malone and Grease.
The couple, dubbed Wayleen, moved into a new £1.3m mansion in nearby Formby. They now live in a £3.5 million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, complete with a cinema, gym and games room and American diner-themed kitchen. It also has seven plasma screen TVs and a £30,000 state-of-the-art security system.
Coleen has always been very supportive of Wayne, even when it was discovered that some years earlier he had visited a prostitute.
Their wedding took place in Portofino, Italy on 12 June 2008. The couple were paid a reported £2.5 million by Britain's OK! magazine for the exclusive wedding information and pictures.
It was announced on 7 April 2009 that the Rooneys are expecting their first baby, due in October.
