A native of Los Angeles, Christel Khalil broke to the small screen at age 6 when she appeared in an episode of the comedy series “The Sinbad Show.” Two years later, she was cast in her first movie role, as little girl, in Dragon Fury, an action helmed and written by David Heavener and starring Richard Lynch. She followed this up with appearances in Roald Dahl’s Matilda (1996), directed by Danny DeVito, and Milo (1998), a horror where she portrayed the young Claire Mullins. In between, Khalil took on guest spots in episodes of “Family Matters” (1996) and “George & Leo” (1997).
After several years away from filmmaking, Khalil resurfaced in 2002 to play babysitter in Neil Burger’s Interview with the Assassin. The drama film starred Raymond J. Barry as the John F. Kennedy assassination, a former Marine named Walter Ohlinger. The same year, she also costarred opposite Diana Burbano and Crystal Leah Chacon in the short film White Like the Moon.
Khalil, however, did not create a big impact until she won the role of Lily Winters in the CBS long-running soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” During her tenure from August 2002 to September 2005, the young performer collected numerous nominations such as a two Young Artist for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Leading Young Actress in 2003 and 2004, two Image for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series in 2005 and 2006, as well as two Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 2004 and 2006. She decided to depart the show to pursue film career.
While starring in “The Young and the Restless,” Khalil also portrayed Crystal in two episodes of “That’s So Raven” (2003-2004) and did voice-over in “W.I.T.C.H.” (2005), an animated series for director Marc Gordon-Bates. There, she provides the voice of Cornelia Hale.
Recently, Khalil made a guest appearance in the season seven of the acclaimed series “Malcolm in the Middle” (2006), as Kristin. The Linwood Boomer-created stars Frankie Muniz in the title role. Other regular casts include Erik Per Sullivan, Jane Kaczmarek, Bryan Cranston, Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson.
