Basshunter is a composer of dance music. He is signed to Hard2Beat Records
Basshunter aka Jonas Altberg was born 1984 in Halmstad, Sweden. He lives with his parents and younger brother 5 minutes from Swedens best beach “Tylösand”. He can shortly be described as stubborn and creative person. He started to produce music in 1999 with a little help from the computer program “Fruityloops” (now known as FL studio). The interest of music became bigger and bigger. After a lot of demos spread over the internet, he started to get some phone calls from clubs that wanted to have him as a Dj. In April 2006 he got his first real contact to the music industry when signed a record deal with Warner Music. He released his first single Boten Anna in Scandinavia and it became a hit instantly. It all went very fast, much faster than Basshunter himself ever could expect.
From a normal guy that was very good in computer games he went to the guy that performed almost every day all over Scandinavia. The story continued that his Swedish song also went no. 2 in Holland on the sales chart, which is unprecedented for a dance act.
Basshunter is the stage name for Jonas Altberg, born in 1984 in Halmstad, Sweden. His 2006 single, Boten Anna, was #1 in Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark. His subsequent single “Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA” has reached as high as #2 in Finland. Altberg has just released his 2006 album, with his 2007 single “I Can Walk On Water I Can Fly”.
He first started to produce music in 1999 with a little help from the computer program “Fruity Loops Studio”. His interest in music from there on grew exponentially. Many of his demos were widely circulated over the internet, and Jonas started to get phone calls from clubs that requested his services as a DJ. In April 2006 he procured his first real music contact, signing a record deal with Warner Music. He soon released his first single Boten Anna in Scandinavia which became an instant hit.
The Swedish lyrics of the song “Boten Anna” tell the story of a female IRC user mistaken for an IRC bot by the vocalist who later finds out the truth; subsequently, however, he states that she will always remain a bot in his eyes. Despite the esoteric subject of the lyrics, the song was well-received by mainstream media, although the word bot was frequently mistaken for boat (as many people don’t know how to pronounce bot correctly), and the double meaning of channel (IRC channel mistaken for the water body with the same name). The video to the song shows Basshunter riding a pedal boat down a canal which may have further added to the confusion.
