Ranked one of the Top Ten Most Beautiful Female Athletes by Sports Illustrated magazine, Anna Rawson is an Australian born model who crossed over into professional golfing, and is now making a splash on the LPGA. It’s almost unfair that so much beauty and athletic talent can be wrapped in one package.
Anna was born in Adelaide, South Australia. Her mother died when she was five years old, and her father, Jim, raised her and her brother alone. She was always involved in sports, and began playing golf at age 13. At age 16, she became a finalist in the Australian “Dolly” magazine cover contest. This began her career in modeling, as print and television ads poured in.
Anna was busy working as model and completing high school when she was offered a golfing scholarship to the University of Southern California. Anna came to America and lead USC to their first ever golfing National Championship. In 2003, she was invited to the White House to meet President George W. Bush. It seems even the president becomes interested in women’s college golf when there’s a player who looks like Anna. Anna hit the links with G.W., and described his game as “very average.”
Anna graduated from USC with a 3.4 GPA, and in 2006 earned her tour card on the LPGA. Anna has sworn that she committed to raising the profile and popularity of women’s golf. As long as she continues to model, it seems there’s no doubt that she’ll be able to do that.
