Southern California native Angela de Silva aspired to perform since childhood. At the young age of three, her first role was Piglet in Winnie the Pooh. After being in front of an audience, Angela took interest in learning the piano when she was just five years old. With a growing desire to continue performing and honing her skills, she began studying acting at the American National Academy of Performing Arts at the age of 10. The academy provided Angela with extensive training, enabling her to participate in numerous musicals and dance performances throughout junior high and high school. She was awarded Most Outstanding Performer at San Marino High School, where she served as a cheerleader for three years and co-captain of the squad during her senior year.
Staying true to her goals, Angela went on to study film at University of California, Irvine. While there, she was invited to be a student at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts as a major in Dance. She declined, knowing her true passion was acting. Soon after, a talent scout recruited her on campus and secured auditions for her immediately. After booking multiple music videos for well-known recording artists and advertisements for hair and fitness products, Angela was determined to continue pursuing her dream, so she decided to head for Hollywood in the midst of her college studies.
Once in Hollywood, she continued studying and perfecting her craft while performing with dance troupes and in local plays. She booked her first national commercial for General Electric followed by national commercials for Honda and Verizon. Angela became the face of Apple computers as her photo appeared on storefront posters and pamphlets in every Apple retailer across the nation. She went on to secure a national print campaign for Coca Cola and an international ad for Canon, featured in various European magazines.
Having worked on many independent films and various television shows, Angela currently plays the part of Gaya on ABC Family's "10 Things I Hate About You." Her personal experience with this specific cast and crew has validated her strong desire to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Angela continues to challenge herself and perfect her craft. She regularly performs sketch comedy and improvisation at Second City in Hollywood while studying under renowned acting coach Gordon Hunt, father to four-time Emmy winning actress Helen Hunt. Though she never knows what opportunities lie ahead, she wants to be certain she's prepared.
