A graduate of Parsons school of design, Anand Jon launched the spring 99 debut collection Amazone and for fall 99 Arcane to critical acclaim from media and retail alike. Anand, who teams up with his sister Sanjana on the jewelry and adornments accents, has attracted the attention of such celebrities and socialites as Nadja Swarovski of Swarovski crystals, MTV'S Ananda Lewis, Emmy award winners Lynn Whitfield and Susan Lucci, Gina Torres, and musicians like Alanis Morrisette, Mary J Blige, Prince, and Courtney Love.
Anand’s summer 99 was later presented at the Anand Jon fashion presentation across the Polo field at the Mercedes Benz Bridge Hampton Polo challenge, with such guests and participants as actress Renee Russo, Stephanie Seymore, Rita Schraeger, Devon Aoki and Kelly Klein. And at the NYC 2000 fashion show on Times Square, Anand also became one of their selected designers.
Anand was in charge of Brooke Burke’s wardrobe twice when she served as the host of E!’s travel show “Wild On!” And from 2003 to 2004, he appeared on UPN/The CW’s competitive reality show created by supermodel Tyra Banks, "America’s Next Top Model."
Recently, the designer who has dressed such celebrities as Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson, was named by Newsweek magazine in its list of people to watch in 2007. He is set to launch a new line of jeans and was developing a reality TV show about his life. For his breakthrough contribution in Fashion & Trade, the India-born designer has been honored by the Consul General of India, Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, as one of the outstanding cultural ambassadors of India.
More recently, in March 2007, Anand made headlines when he was arrested in Beverly Hills and has been charged with rape, sexual battery and lewd acts on a minor in what prosecutors say were assaults on two women and a 15-year-old girl.
Being asked if Anand has denied those charges against him, his lawyer replied and explained: "Vehemently. I think some of them (the women) were upset that they didn't get as much exposure as they were promised in fashion industry. They came to his apartment, under his name, they slept with him. No one forced them to do anything."
